Market Valuations

Know what your car
is really worth.

Before any important decision — a sale, a purchase, insurance, an estate — a clear, objective read on what your car is worth today.

The evidence, and the experience to interpret it.

Why It Matters

Almost every decision starts with the same question.

What is it worth today? Weighing an offer, considering a purchase, insuring the car, planning an estate — each begins in the same place.

Get the number right, and the decision that follows is clearer. Get it wrong, and everything after inherits the error.

Considering a sale

Know your floor before you field an offer, and negotiate from evidence, not hope.

Evaluating a purchase

A check on the asking price before you commit, and where the car sits in the market.

Insurance

Agreed-value cover starts with a defensible number, kept current as the market moves.

Estate & family

A neutral, documented basis heirs, attorneys, and accountants can all accept.

Collection planning

An honest read on what you hold, and how it's moving.

Simply knowing

Sometimes you just want to understand today's market. That's reason enough.

Why It's Not Simple

A number is easy. The right one isn't.

Anyone can pull a recent auction result. But an auction reflects one car, one room, one day. A dealer's price reflects what they hope to get. A private sale you heard about may have carried terms no one mentions.

Comparable sales are the starting point, rarely the answer. The same model can vary by tens of thousands on condition, originality, and history alone — and the market is always moving. Reaching a number you can rely on takes more than data.

The market sets the value. Judgment finds it.

Why Clients Trust Us

No stake in the number.

Motori holds no inventory, runs no auction, and favors no place to sell. We aren't paid on the outcome, and we never value a car to justify a sale. So the number is never shaded toward a listing or a commission — only the most honest read of what the market supports.

Every valuation pairs current market evidence with specialist research — marque specialists and historians when a car calls for it — and is reviewed personally before it's issued. When it helps, we see the car in person.

The goal is never to support a decision. It's to inform one.

What We Weigh

What moves the number, and why.

No two collector cars are identical. Value comes from weighing what sets one example apart from the next — and knowing what each difference is worth.

Originality

Buyers pay for what can't be put back. Matching numbers and original finishes are finite — once altered, they're gone for good — so the cars closest to how they left the factory command the strongest premiums.

Condition

Condition is what the buyer actually receives. It dictates what must be spent, or never can be, to make a car right — which is why two identical models can differ by tens of thousands on condition alone.

Documentation

Paper turns a story into a fact. Records and history remove a buyer's doubt, and what removes doubt removes discount; gaps in the file are priced as risk.

Provenance

A car's history can outweigh the car. Notable ownership or a documented past gives a buyer something no other example has — a story that can't be replicated carries a premium.

Rarity

Scarcity only pays when it's wanted. Low production lifts value where demand already exists; without it, rare just means hard to sell. Rarity and desirability are not the same thing.

Market activity

Value is set by the present, not the past. What comparable cars are trading for now, and whether the market is rising or cooling, reframes what any example is worth today.

What You Receive

A number, and the confidence to use it.

A clear written opinion, prepared for its purpose — fair market value, or the agreed value an insurer needs — with the evidence and reasoning behind it. Built to be used.

  • A defensible fair-market-value conclusion
  • The comparable sales it rests on
  • A condition and documentation read
  • Plain-language market commentary
  • A stated intended use — insurance, estate, and so on

Share it with an insurer, attorney, lender, or accountant. Rely on it at the negotiating table. Keep it current as the market moves — particularly for insurance or ongoing Care & Management.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us about the car and what the valuation is for. We'll recommend the right scope, outline timing and fees, and proceed only with your approval.
